Today is May 26, 2017 -
Hello! And welcome to the Brotherhood page of the Temple Shalom website. If you’re new to Temple or unfamiliar with the Brotherhood, let me offer a glimpse into who we are and what we do.
Brotherhood plays a vital and crucial role in Temple Shalom. We raise and provide funds, create and participate in social functions, and supply “man power” for jobs around the Temple.
In recent years, we have provided funds to purchase a new furnace and new folding chairs, and much needed repair work in and around the Temple. Brotherhood also provided (and planted!) three apple trees to create a beautiful memorial garden, dedicated to our beloved Past President David Ensel z”l.
Our social functions are successful and fun, and include a Men’s Seder, Comedy Night, Road Rally, golf outings, bicycle touring, and usually two Devils games per season. Brotherhood offers our members the chance to volunteer and usher at the High Holy Day services, build the Temple Sukkah, run the annual blood drive, and participate in Habitat for Humanity builds.
But most important of all we have created a friendly, inviting and meaningful place for men to assemble and be together. Enduring friendships form and continue.
There is a monthly Brotherhood breakfast where we serve bagels, lox, cream cheese, and other gourmet delights. At each breakfast we have interesting and provocative speakers. The $45 annual Brotherhood dues are well worth the breakfasts alone!
And here’s a tip: First time Brotherhood members and male college undergraduates are free!
I would like to invite you to our next breakfast. If you have a child to drop off at 9:30am for Religious School, why not park the car, come upstairs and have breakfast with us? Look for me (I’m wearing a name badge), introduce yourself and let me know it’s your first time.
If you have any questions about Brotherhood, feel free to e-mail me at email@example.com or call me at 973-610-1458. I invite you to accept this invitation and consider opening your life to a meaningful opportunity to do good works and meet good people. We are all looking forward to a great year ahead, and we want you to join us!
