Chadeish Beiteinu Update

Chadeish Beiteinu - We are progressing with our renovations. In July, our plans were submitted to Roxbury Township and we are scheduled to go in front of the planning board in October. Once our plans are approved, which we believe will be the case, we will begin requesting bids from contractors. Several contractors previously expressed interest in the project several years ago while we were requesting preliminary estimates. We hope to begin construction in early 2010 with completion expected by the end of that year. Mary Ellen Goldberg and Jordana Zeger will be overseeing the construction process. Both of whom have had experience with major construction projects.

There will be several major areas of construction. One will be to move the entry way to the back of the building and reconfigure the downstairs area to provide space for the Temple administrative offices. The current office space can then be renovated to become our new Judaic Study Center. The social hall and kitchen will also require significant work. The current plan is to raise the roof of the social hall in order to align the ceiling with the kiddush room and create a new larger space for catering. Since this will require opening the roof, this work, in all likelihood, can not begin until the spring. For information on all of the renovations, please see the construction plans on the website or in the Temple lobby. We will continue to provide updates as work progresses.

Our interior design committee has been on hiatus waiting for the construction to begin. Once construction begins there will be lots of decisions to be made regarding the design materials, and the feel of the interior .
