Sisterhood 2006 – 2007 Plans

Welcome to a new year!  We hope that everyone had a happy and restful summer.  This year there will be some changes with Sisterhood.  We are going to take the year to reinvent ourselves.  As we are not living the lives that our mother’s lived, our Sisterhood cannot be that of our mother’s Sisterhood.  The role of women in Temple Shalom has changed over the years, and we feel that it is time for Sisterhood to change as well.

We will be taking this year to redirect Sisterhood so that it better meets the needs of the women of Temple Shalom.  This does not mean that Sisterhood does not exist of that we have disappeared.  We will be in the Temple, active in the Temple’s life.  We will still run the gift shop, take yarmulke orders, and do videos of Bar/Bat Mitzvahs.  We will continue to donate books to our B’nai Mitzvah children.  We will have one or two events during the year.

We are asking for an eighteen dollar donation as dues.  This will allow us to continue to help the different parts of the Temple that have come to rely on us for financial aid.  These include the Youth Groups, L’Chayim Club, and the Religious School.

We are hoping to be back in full swing for September 2007.  If anyone has any suggestions or ideas they would like to give us, please contact Lori Cohen, (973) 933-2056.

     Wishing everyone L’Shana Tova!
