Summary of the High Holy Day Worship Options

We offer two options for our High Holy Day Morning worship on the first day of Rosh Hashanah and on Yom Kippur, allowing you to choose a service not simply on the basis of “early” or “late” but more so on the basis of service format – Tefilah Chadasha or Standard Worship.  What follows is a comparison of the two service formats.

Tefilah Chadasha  (Begins at 8:45 am)
LiturgyUsing the new High Holy Day Mahzor:   MISHKAN HANEFESH
MusicCantor-led with high congregational participation and some contemporary additions
ChildrenConcurrent Children’s Worship and Education Program in Founders’ Hall and Religious School classrooms.
LengthApproximately 2 hours.

 

Standard Worship  (Begins at 11:30 am)
LiturgyUsing the new High Holy Day Mahzor:  MISHKAN HANEFESH
MusicCantor-led music including many familiar pieces from past years
ChildrenNo children’s worship or programming
LengthApproximately 2 ½ hours
